ABOUT
Elysia's passion for photography started at a young age when her dad
gave her his old Pentax Spotmatic to play with around the farm at the
family house in Langley, Victoria. The excitement of being able to
capture a moment in time forever stuck; this passion turned into a
career, and the rest is history.
With a Bachelor of Visual Arts at La Trobe University up her sleeve, Elysia went on to freelance for ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) in their 'Moving Family Portrait' at Federation Square. Her work has featured in several exhibitions and in 2005 was the winner of the Digitype Digital Imaging Award, the Kodak Achievement Award and a string of other awards. In 2006 she was commisioned by the Bendigo City Council to cover the Commonwealth Games and has gone on to freelance for several companies including The Bendigo Advertiser, The Age Newspaper, and the National Gallery of Victoria. Her photographs have appeared in several publications including The Age Newspaper, The Herald Sun, The Bendigo Advertiser, The Telegraph (Sunbury/Macedon Ranges), The Kyneton Midland Express and the Macedon Ranges Guardian.
Elysia is an avid horse rider, loves eventing and has two horses in full work at home in the Macedon Ranges. On top of her equine photography, her subject matter is vast. Beginning at university with underwater work, (an idea which stemmed from her part time job as a swim instructor) which developed into two seperate narrative series; one based upon Shakespeare's Ophelia and other other on The Sirens from Greek Mythology. Her newspaper and freelance work has developed an impressive folio of portraiture, landscape, politicians, celebrities and sport.
